Hi everyone!  I received this “senior discount” list from a friend and I thought that it might be of some $$$ value to many of my readers. Please noteI have NOT verified this list personally so let me know if you find vendors that don’t offer (or have discontinued) the discounts posted and I will remove the company from the list.  On the contrary, if you get a discount somewhere that’s not listed have the manager email us (info@abramson.com) and we will add it to the list!  I’ve heard several times that YOU must ASK for your discount when you go to many of these places – they won’t just offer it (not sure why!).  Also, I’ve received a number of emails saying that some places are telling folks that the listed discount is a local (or per store) discount – not offered nationally at all locations – so if you’re turned down that may be the case.

This list may not only be useful for you, but for your friends and family, too – so feel free to share!

Thanks for this list. I have a question can you tell where the Dunkin Donuts are that gives you the free coffee. I have only been able to get the 10% discount.

The list has been very helpful

We just started Senior discounts for OBX vacations here ->

    http://www.southernshores.com/senior-citizen-vacation-discounts

Please help us spread the word so folks aren’t afraid to ask for a discount that does exist!

We’re the longest operating on the beach (since 1947) and have over 600 rental homes.

You have to tell the cashier at Dunkin Donuts because you have many (young) people working there that are not aware. The fault is the management that are greedy and are not interested in giving a discount.

      Ha ha…good to know!

  12. Posted by Becky December 3, 2014 1:15 pm

Arby’s in Conyers, Georgia, no longer gives seniors a 10% discount, as I just visited them today and asked about it.

  13. Posted by Rosemary Patterson January 5, 2015 6:47 am

I just went to the Dunkin Donuts in Sebring Florida this am and the cashier there stated that they do not give “free coffee” but they give a ” small coffee & regular donut for $2.17″ … when I stated that I wanted a large coffee and an apple fritter and asked if I could have it adjusted out the cashier replied “NO” … hmm … Has you list been verified in other areas ??

Looks like your friend probably snagged this list from The Senior List (.com). They update their discount lists annually (and even the formatting looks the same).

My local (So. CA) El Pollo Loco gives a 10% Sr Discount any day on the whole order you are purchasing. When I invite the kids over, and I get 10% off my whole order, it makes a difference.

I went to taco bell and ordered inside. The young lady asked if I was 50 and gave me a 10% discount. I watched and she asked a lot of people the same thing. She probably got in trouble for pushing the discount. Not bad if they all give 10% discount. This was in Texas City, Tx.

Harris Teeter discount is on Thursday not Tuesday. They changed the day a couple of years ago because the new specials start on Wednesday and seniors were not finding items in stock by Tuesday.

Wow! Getting older is not that bad at all! Also, the caregiving tips for the new caregiver gives me a whole idea. I will take care of my boyfriend later on because he will undergo back and knee surgeries, work related injuries. I have been taking care of him though but I have to be approved as his caregiver after the operations. Thank you.

  25. Posted by Bob Gall June 29, 2015 1:59 am

The reason you have to ask for the discount is probably that they don’t want to ask if you are a senior. Some people who aren’t seniors might get insulted if you assume they are. I know it happened to my wife who isn’t a senior; she was furious when the person just inquired if she was. We did get free admissions as compensation though.

YOU NEED TO ASK AT EVERY PLACE AND YOU WILL BE SUPPRISED THAT MOST PLACES GIVE DISCOUNTS ………..I’M 85 AND I NOT ASHAMED TO ASK AND I RECEIVE ……….I REMEMBER ALL OF THESE PLACES AND I GO BACK ………..BUD

Too bad the US does not have a National card for senior discounts like Mexico does. I live most of the time now in Mexico and with the INAPAM card I get significant discounts–such as 50 percent with all bus lines. Many other discounts also.

    • Posted by Alexis Abramson, Ph.D. July 14, 2015 11:58 am

Wouldn’t that be great! Although AARP does offer lots of great discounts – http://www.aarp.org.

      Enjoy Mexico!!!

  28. Posted by Anita July 19, 2015 5:19 pm

Do we have to be from Mexico to get these discounts?
